From Our President
Greetings and welcome to the Greenville (SC) Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Incorporated. As president of this illustrious and tireless chapter, I am humbled and honored to serve among talented and altruistic Delta women who serve the Greenville Community fueled with Sisterhood, Scholarship, Service and Social Action.
With over 250 members, our Chapter is a part of the Sensational South Atlantic Region that encompasses over 957 chapters. Six phenomenal women in Greenville County chartered the Greenville (SC) Alumnae Chapter during a time of segregation and racial strife common in the Jim Crow era. For over 77 years, the Greenville (SC) Alumnae Chapter has established itself as an exemplary chapter, providing crucial community programming, raising social and health awareness and supporting youth within our community. Many of our efforts have been recognized and nationally awarded including: Delta Dear of the Year, our award-winning gospel choir (the Delta Chorale) and the often imitated but never duplicated Red Shoe Scholarship Luncheon/Gala. The secret to our success is the unparalleled support of the Greenville community.
In alignment with Delta’s National Five-Point Programmatic Thrust and public service initiatives, Greenville (SC) activities and events focus on:
- Economic Development
- Educational Development
- International Awareness and Involvement
- Physical and Mental Health
- Political Awareness and Involvement/Social Action
